The moral of the story; if you suspect there are pests in your home, act fast!

Pest Control Horror Stories

The couple that had to fight mice for their bed

A pest control technician in Philadelphia in the US got called out for a mouse infestation. He was an experienced guy, but even he wasn’t prepared for what he saw. All in all, he estimates around 3000 mice had infested the property. They had bored holes in the walls, chewed wires in the ceiling, and left so much faeces in their wake that a white kitchen floor appeared black. Apparently, the couple that owned the house reported having to get rid of mice from their bed before they could turn in for the night!

The day it rained cockroaches

Next up in our collection of pest control horror stories is a story from a pest control team in Tennessee. They attended a home to deal with a cockroach infestation that was so bad that cockroaches were raining from the ceiling. Is your skin crawling yet?

The interesting wallpaper pattern that wasn’t

One pest control technician went out to a new client’s home to treat a bed bug problem. He was standing in the bedroom admiring the interesting polka dot pattern on the wallpaper when suddenly he realised; they weren’t polka dots. The entire surface of the wall was covered in bed bugs!

Bed bugs vs cockroaches vs humans

A care home in California was the scene of a rather troubling double infestation of bed bugs and cockroaches. A bizarre and quite disgusting scenario had developed where the cockroaches were eating the bed bugs and the bed bugs were feasting on the people. It took two whole weeks of treatment to get rid of the pests.

Sharing the classroom with deadly spiders

Last but certainly not least in our roundup of pest control horror stories is the tale of an East London school that was infested with false widow spiders back in 2019. False widow bites can cause allergic reactions and even fatalities if they aren’t treated, so you definitely wouldn’t want to share your classroom with them. The school had to close for two and a half weeks while pest control professionals treated the infestation.

Yes these stories are extreme, but the fact is, even what appears like a small pest problem can quickly get out of hand. Some pests can be hard to spot and many DIY products are ineffective as they don’t kill the pests at all stages of their life cycle. Only professional pest control technicians can identify an infestation and thoroughly treat the problem.

If there are signs of pest activity in your home or business, don’t wait until it gets out of hand, call in the professionals.
