Contego In Partnership With Forest Carbon

Contego are committed to becoming climate positive by 2025. That means we will reduce more greenhouse gas emissions than our value chain emits while growing the Contego business. Our responsibility stretches across the entire value chain of our business.

We have taken a proactive approach to this by becoming a partner with Forest Carbon since 2018.

Forest Carbon leads the way in UK woodland creation for carbon capture. Through the planting of over 9.5 million new trees since 2006, has resulted in removing nearly 2.5 million tonnes of CO2 from the atmosphere, as well as providing a host of other benefits to society, including flood mitigation, enhanced biodiversity and increased public access.

Our CEO Michael Taylor and Managing Director Norman Smith visited Joanna Woods on Tuesday as part of their biannual review of the project. Jonna Woods is a public access native broadleaf woodland adjacent to the B6310 between the villages of Shotley Bridge and Medomsley in County Durham.

“For me, it’s really important to reduce our environmental impact on the planet, planting trees and creating woodlands supporting wildlife, while offsetting our carbon footprint is a great way of do so.” – Contego CEO, Michael Taylor.

Contego is a proud partner of Forest Carbon and will continue to support this initiative as part of our commitment to be climate positive by 2025.
