Enterprise City - Bird Proofing and Environmental Cleaning
The Problem
Pigeons were roosting on the beams in the loading bay areas of Mall A, causing significant fouling on the floor and the cars parked below. Both loading bays, with dimensions of 16.5m at the widest point, 12m at the main width, and a length of 40m, were affected. Additionally, the front sign area, measuring 3m in height and 10m in width, was also a roosting site.
The Solution
To address the pigeon problem and clean the fouled areas, our technicians implemented a comprehensive bird proofing and environmental cleaning plan. The work was executed over several days, involving the following steps:
Installation of Bird Proofing Systems:
Day 1: Installation of the wiring system for the front drop net at Mall A, with over 50% of the wiring system for the roof net also completed. All wiring was tensioned using M6 barrel strainers, and eye bolts were used for fixings.
Day 2: Completion of the remaining wiring and installation of a 20x20 net for the back half of the canopy/warehouse. All waste was bagged and disposed of properly.
Day 3: The roof nets and drop net were attached, and a general floor sweep was conducted.
Day 4: Installation of wiring systems for the drop net section at the front of the building and a tensioned bird wire around the perimeter of the external walls. The area was fully wired, with final netting installation scheduled.
Day 5: Installation of two 20x20 meter nets, with the back and middle sections of the vicinity fully netted. Remaining netting, including a 0.5x1.5 meter section to block entry points, was completed.
Day 6: Final installation of the roof net and drop net, with the completion of all bird proofing measures.
Environmental Cleaning:
Scraping and sweeping of all affected areas to remove guano.
Thorough washing of doused areas with disinfectant biocide to remove stains.
Scrubbing and rinsing of the floor to ensure a clean and safe environment.
The Result
The comprehensive bird proofing and cleaning efforts led to the successful deterrence of pigeons from the loading bay areas of Mall A. The installation of nets and wires effectively prevented pigeons from roosting, and the environmental cleaning ensured that all fouling was removed, leaving the area clean and hygienic. The work was completed within the allocated timeframe, resulting in a satisfied client and a significant improvement in the cleanliness and safety of the loading bays.
