Meet the team – Sammy-Jo Pearson-Scanlon, Service Scheduler

Up next in our series of interviews with some key members of the Contego family, we’re chatting to Sammy Jo Pearson-Scanlon, Service Scheduler about herself and her role at Contego.

Q: Tell us a little bit about yourself.

Since leaving school, which seems like a lifetime ago I have always worked within the sales industry my first ever main job was selling water coolers throughout the UK which I really enjoyed. I then moved onto building and maintenance to then spent the past 12 years working in apprenticeships, training and recruitment. Throughout lockdown I took redundancy and went on to work in another recruitment role which is when I decided that I needed a change in career and what better change than to work in pest control – totally different industry.

I lived in Turkey for several months which I thoroughly enjoyed, well who wouldn’t sitting around a pool updating Facebook for the hotel. This made me decide to complete a diploma in Digital Marketing when returning home.

Q: Do you have any hobbies or interests outside of work?

On a weekend I sometimes work behind the bar at our local scouts centre, where a lot of my friends like to socialise so I still get to spend time with them and get paid at the same.. happy days. Me and the wife enjoy a game of darts, I did play for a local team but enjoy doing it in our spare time now along with a game of pool.

I love my holidays but have not been able to travel for 2 years due to lockdown, but I do like to go abroad a couple of times a year. I love the sun, sea and cocktails.

Q: What does a typical day at Contego look like for you?

Busy, very busy. It’s definitely different to any other job I have had in the past but I enjoy it because its constant and everyday is different, the days just seem to vanish. I work on scheduling service technicians schedules daily so look after the biggest area for tech’s covering Wales, London, South East and South West of England.

Q: What would you say it’s like working for Contego and what do you like about the way things are done here?

I knew of Contego from working in apprenticeships as I placed an apprentice within the business several years ago.

I enjoy the fact that each scheduler has there own patch but we all still work as a team to try help each other out. I didn’t come from a pest control background so had a lot of questions around the role and everyone has offered me support, I know first hand that people are willing to help and give advice.
